Adolescent Outpatient IOP
Substance Abuse Treatment Program for Youth/Young Adults
The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Therapy (IOP) is a treatment model designed to help adolescents develop the skills necessary to lead healthy and fulfilling lives free of addictive substances. The program is based on the premise that due to deficits in emotion regulation and decision making, youths choose to cope with intense emotional experiences as well as the pressures of life by abusing substances.
Treating the Roots of Addiction
Addiction is a serious illness that affects adolescents on multiple levels. The Adolescent IOP program targets pertinent developmental issues impacting teens as they enter the journey to adulthood.
Through individualized and compassionate evidence based treatment, clients are provided the opportunity to explore issues impacting their recovery including, but not limited to, mood issues, peer relationships and self-esteem. The program offers alternative methods for affect regulation and distress tolerance, as well as life skills training to assist youth in healthy decision making.
Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment for Youth
The Adolescent IOP program in Freehold is open to clients from 8th through 12th grade, with a minimum age of 14. The IOP is not "one-size-fits-all". We customize the program for each participant. Through a collaborative process involving client (the adolescent), family, and a clinical team, we determine treatment goals.
A comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment is completed at time of evaluation, to establish the appropriate and least-restrictive level of care. Ongoing assessment will be conducted throughout clients’ treatment to ensure that clients receive appropriate care to best increase the likelihood of continued abstinence from addictive substances and behaviors. Ongoing assessments also help determine when clients are safe to be discharged from the program.
Not a 12 Step Program, but 12 Step is Important
We encourage and emphasize the importance of involvement in the 12 steps of AA/NA, and provide guidance on for involvement and participating.
