According to on-air statistics, more people died in New Jersey from heroin overdose last year than from vehicle accidents. Even more surprising; the Garden State is home to 10% of the nations heroin addicts -- some of which are as young as ten years old.
You can help by simply riding a stationary bike for a few miles this week at any of three locations in Monmouth and Ocean counties. Jersey Shore Radio 107.1 FM is raising awareness this week for the heroin epidemic plaguing New Jersey. They have has setup on-site locations at the Monmouth Mall, Ocean County Mall, and the Freehold Raceway Mall.
Each mile you ride will be matched with a dollar donation to local charities that support recovery from addiction. The Counseling Center's own Marc Wurgaft has been on-site, providing guidance and support for those coming down for help and information about treatment and addiction.
