The mission of The Counseling Center at Freehold to help people with addiction, both through recovery support and with education. The Counseling Center strives to be a strong participant in the continuum of care within New Jersey, while working to remove the stigma associated with addiction and addiction disorders.
As New Jersey suffered a rise in heroin and opioid overdoses, regulators tested programs that expanded the availability of naloxone as a life-saving drug. Recently they have further relaxed the regulations, and naloxone kits are available for use in the home, in many cases.
Is Naloxone the Answer to Heroin Addiction?
There are many questions related to heroin overdose, prevention, and addiction treatment that are not answered by a powerful emergency antidote like naloxone.
John Wohlert, MSW, LSW, Clinical Director for The Counseling Center at Freehold, has helped bring this event to The Counseling Center. John will be on-hand during the event to answer questions about addiction disorders, treatment options, and how families and community members can better understand the role of naloxone in addiction and addiction treatment.
