We think George Eliot would have appreciated our Intensive Outpatient Program
At the March meeting I presented information on adolescent detox issues and concerns as well as The Counseling Center’s new adolescent IOP (Intensive Out Patient) Program. This program will allow students to continue their education and maintain family and community ties while intensively working on overcoming their substance abuse problems.
The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Program runs three days per week. Transportation to The Counseling Center is provided, but participants are required to be picked-up at the end by an adult. The Counseling Center will work closely with schools and other collateral contacts to make appropriate arrangements for participation.
An important and excellent aspect of the Adolescent IOP program is the mandatory family component of the program. Research and experience have proven that family involvement and support strengthens participants' incentive to work hard, and increases the chances of successful recovery.
