Intensive Outpatient Program
Substance abuse, whether prescribed drugs or illicit drugs, is a major concern in the country, with millions of people either trapped in the cycle of self-medication, or struggling to quit and unable to do so. The Counseling Center offers a way out with our intensive outpatient program for substance abuse or addiction.
From your first meeting with one of our professional clinicians, your overall state of being will be assessed, and a treatment plan will be recommended and explained for your specific condition and substance of use. Our intensive outpatient program for substance abuse will include therapy, and in certain cases, medications to counteract withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings or urges associated with the drug of use and the side effects when it is stopped. Your outpatient program for substance abuse will be scheduled taking into consideration your personal commitments and responsibilities such as work, school, and family life. The idea is for you to begin your long-awaited recovery, as you continue your daily life.
Your intensive outpatient program (IOP for short) for substance abuse will consist of group therapy sessions conducted with small groups of 10 people or less, individual sessions with a therapist once a week who will guide and monitor your progress and help you with specific concerns, and can include substance abuse medication to wean you off a specific drug. The Counseling Center’s outpatient program for substance abuse will focus on awareness, education, and relapse prevention.
Intensive Outpatient Program
Long-term use of drugs and alcohol affect brain function, and this effect makes it difficult, and even impossible, for the user to stop without professional help. In addition, underlying mental health disorders that with early detection may have been treated and resolved often go undiagnosed. Addiction and mental health matters are co-occurring disorders that are treated at The Counseling Center in our intensive outpatient mental health programs. Participation in the outpatient program for mental health is determined at the clinical and medical assessment. The mental health intensive outpatient program we offer is a non-residential treatment where the patient is in a structured schedule of usually 4 – 5 hours during the day, or evening, and returns home. The mental health IOP (short for intensive outpatient treatment) at The Counseling Center is administered by certified mental health therapists and doctors. The treatment will include psychotherapy through weekly individual counseling, group counseling that includes awareness and education of co-occurring disorders, and the necessary treatment for these. The mental health IOP is tailored specifically to the patient’s needs and circumstances, making the freedom from drug addiction and the detection and treatment of any underlying mental health disorders, the focus of our doctors and staff. The outpatient program for mental health also involves family therapy with the aim to strengthen the understanding and support the patient will need from loved ones; it may include some form of medication management, and information that will lead the patient to a better understanding of Self, for a successful recovery.
